Flutter or Capacitor?
Gerald Hinson and I had been going back and forth about Flutter vs Capacitor for a while now. Like over a year.
Last week he challenged me a bit, so I took some time to review and reflect on my choices earlier this week. I believe any good idea will stand the test of scrutiny, and in the process of reviewing things, I realized I still stand by my preference to use Capacitor and NextJS instead of Flutter/Dart.
It’s not that Flutter/Dart is either a bad or a wrong choice; it is just that Capacitor is more conducive to how I prefer to develop applications.
I originally had been preparing a long post about this, but as I was gathering information, I ran across Max Lynch's post about Capacitor, and I just stopped. It was a much better explanation.
If you’re looking for a single unified platform to develop applications, Capacitor might be a good choice. I love how Max put a flowchart in his post on when to choose between Flutter, ReactNative and Capacitor. No one solution will fit all spaces, and he recognizes that, for which I give them high marks.
